LOCAL SEO · EAST LONDON

Getting found by the people already near you.

Local SEO is the work of making sure that when somebody within a few streets needs what you sell, you are who they find. Most of it happens away from your website: on your Google Business Profile, in the listings that carry your details, and in the reviews other people leave. We manage all of it monthly for independent businesses across east London and west Essex, and report what moved.

+£4,600 a month in new bookings for a salon in Loughton, reached by month five of the engagement.

What actually moves local rankings?

Four things, and the order matters. Anything beyond these tends to be someone selling activity rather than results. We keep the list short enough that a client can see the work in a monthly report.

  • A Google Business Profile that is complete and active: categories, hours, photographs, posts, questions answered and reviews replied to
  • A website that loads quickly on a phone, says plainly what you do and where, and carries the structured data that lets Google understand it
  • A name, address and phone number that match everywhere they appear, on the site, on Google, on Apple Maps and on the directories that matter for your trade
  • A steady flow of recent reviews, asked for at the right moment and answered like a person

How long does local SEO take to work?

Profile work can move within weeks, because a profile that was half built starts competing as soon as it is finished. Ranking improvements for competitive searches take months, and anyone promising otherwise is guessing. We set the rank tracking up at the start so you watch the line rather than take our word for it, and the first month is usually the largest single jump because it is the month the foundations get fixed.

Do I need a website, or is Google Business Profile enough?

A profile alone can carry a business a surprising distance, particularly for a trade that gets found on Maps. It stops being enough at the point where somebody wants to check you out before they call: to see the work, read the menu, understand the price, or book without speaking to anyone. The profile gets you found. The site is where the decision happens, and the two feed each other, because Google reads your site to decide how much to trust your profile.

What about the businesses that already outrank me?

Look at what they are actually doing before assuming it is budget. On a high street it is usually a profile that has been kept current for years and a review count built one ask at a time, neither of which is expensive to compete with. It is genuinely harder where a competitor has real editorial coverage or a much older domain, and in that case the faster route is often the AI answers rather than the ranking page, because being quoted does not depend on domain age in the same way.

What does it cost?

Local search is the core of every plan, from £850 a month, which covers the profile, the listings, the reviews and the site work behind them, reported monthly. The visibility audit that tells you where you currently stand is free and comes back within two working days.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
The usual causes are a suspended profile, a duplicate listing competing with the real one, or a recent edit that has not been verified yet. Changing the name, address and phone number in a single sitting is a common trigger, because it can read as a change of ownership rather than an update. Check the profile for a suspension notice first, then search for duplicates under the old details.
Less than they did as a ranking factor, and more than they did as a consistency signal. Nobody is going to find you through a directory nobody uses. But when your details disagree between one listing and another, both Google and the AI assistants become less certain they are looking at one business, and uncertainty costs you. It is worth fixing once and then watching.
Recency matters more than volume for most local searches. A business with twenty reviews from this year usually reads better to a customer, and to Google, than one with ninety that stop in 2023. The thing to build is a habit of asking at the moment somebody is happiest, not a target number.
Most of it, yes, and we will tell you which parts if you ask. The profile work and the review habit are genuinely doable for an owner who has an hour a week. The parts people struggle to keep up are the ones that need doing when trade is busiest, which is exactly when they get dropped.
